The Met Gala 2025 centered on the history and influence of the Black dandy, with Vogue’s May issue translating that theme through its cover story.

Photographed by Tyler Mitchell and styled by Law Roach, the editorial featured A$AP Rocky and was shot in Harlem within the home of Langston Hughes. Serving as Creative Director to Law Roach, Ali Hussainy led the historical research and visual development, alongside project management across styling and production.

Ali drew from the history of the Black dandy with a focus on the Harlem Renaissance, tracing its influence on tailoring and self presentation during that period. These references informed the visual direction of the editorial, grounding it within a specific cultural context.His approach focused on translating this history across the editorial, allowing the subject to move through a defined period while maintaining a contemporary point of view.
